About Us
Sailing North East is a professionally run yacht sailing organisation and which specialises in taking people from all backgrounds and ages to sea, where they can experience the magic of sail. We operate a large well equipped ocean going yacht from Hartlepool Marina, and cruise extensively around the British Isles, across the North Sea and beyond.
Our main aim is to give people the opportunity to sail a big yacht offshore, be it for pure enjoyment, sail training or to aid in gaining recognised qualifications. We can offer an exciting 8 day voyage sailing over to and back from the fantastic city of Amsterdam or if you prefer, a little less demanding weekend to and from Whitby, and of course the prestigious Tall Ships Races.
Sail Training – We are a recognised RYA approved Sea School and can offer our guests, Start Yachting, Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper Courses issuing certification after successful completion. We can also teach and certify Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster offshore RYA Theory courses. Please see RYA courses for further information.
All our yacht is skippered and mated by highly experienced commercial yachtmasters, whose primary concern is your safety and enjoyment. Whilst sailing with us you will have ample opportunity to be involved in the running of the vessel. You will become crew not cargo! Be it hoisting sails, using GPS/VHF/MF radios, devising complex passage plans and even preparing a meal for other crew members in sometimes challenging conditions. You will gain an understanding of satellite navigation systems, safety and collision regulations and the weather first hand.
The challenge is to do something different. Set the sails, switch off the engine, feel 17 tons of boat bite the wind, heel over and cut through the waves. No noise except wind, sail and water. Be part of a team to pilot your yacht to a pre-determined port or anchorage.
